This technology Works with five major components, the Chips, the antennas, the controllers, the “ears” y and a computer for data processing.
Chips and Antennas |
Controller and “Ear” |
The Chips are small passive transmitters weighing less than 2gm and have a unique serial number.
The Black Chip is not for sale. It is only used during the race and runners must return it after crossing the Finish Line . |
The Chips are encapsulated in a plastic cover which allow for them to be used in different types of Sports.
The Chips are energized by a magnetic field generated by the antennas. The Chips transmit their serial number which is registered by the controllers. This process is repeated every 60 milliseconds: 30 milliseconds to energize the Chip, 20 milliseconds to receive and store the serial number and 10 milliseconds wait time .
This process allows for 1/10 seconds accuracy and approximately 7,200 runners per minute in a 4 square meters area .

After all data has been collected, it is transmitted to a computer where it is processed and, after a few minutes, the following information can be obtained: partial and total time, individual time, speed of each runner, in addition to an array of demographic information, like category, sex, age, etc. [Back to Top]
