GENERAL INFORMATION

Date and Time:  

Sunday, March 28, 2010

  • 6:00 a.m. 21 km General and Wheelchairs start.
  • 6:10 a.m. 5 km General Start.
  • The race will start at 6:00 a.m. The course will close 3 hours alter the start. All road barricades will be removed and regular vehicular traffic will resume. The finish line will close at 9:00 a.m. Every runner who crosses the finish line before the cut-off time will receive a medal and certificate.
  • The Awards ceremony will take place at 10:00 a.m. at the Finish Line.

Start and Finish Line : 

The Start and Finish Line are located in the same place. The race will start at Multiplaza Pacific Mall in Via Israel.

Course Description:

Panama City is located at sea level. This is a very scenic course with both, views of the Pacific coastline and the modern banking area.

This is a flat course with a few minor elevations.

Aid Stations:

PANAMA 1/2 MARATHON

  • Aquafina Logo  
  • Water Stations will be located each 2km
  • Aquafina is the sponsor of water and wil be offering that service each 2km and the finish line.
  • PANAMA INTL HALF MARATHON GATORADE ABRE SUS PUERTAS AL MUNDOGatorade will be served also in all it put of hydration, every 2 km
    Our principal sponsor Gatorade will have at his disposal the service of moisturizing drink every 2km of trip, Panama reaches tropical temperatures and needs of this assistance. Also they will have the areas called COOL ZONE that will be of refreshment for all the participants.
    Snacks will be available in 15 km.
  • Medical care will be present the start, the finish line.
    An area saved for medical services will be in the area near to the finish line with communication in the trip for easy place of some medical risk.
    There will be 2 ambulances in the trip.

Spectators :

The Panama Half Marathon New Balance course is very convenient for spectators. Runners can be viewed at different points of the race without having to walk too far from the Starting/Finish area .

The best locations for viewing runners and taking pictures are .

  1. Starting and Finish Line – Multiplaza Pacific Mall, Vía Israel. Sitting area.
  2. Balboa Avenue - Cinta Costera
  3. Calle 50

Baggage:

We offer bag storage service for runners. You may leave your bag at the Starting Line area and we’ll store it for you until after the race, when you will be able to pick it up by presenting your race number. We recommend you use the bag provided with the Runner Kit and that you write your race number on it. Race organizers will not be responsible for objects lost or damaged in the bags storage area .

Elite Runners :

To qualify for an elite runner number you must provide proof of a qualifying time at the time of registration ON LINE. Privilege BIB Numbers are for Men 1 to 15 and women until 16 to 30.

Panama Intl Half Marathon does not offer invitations paid to any athlete, nevertheless we can offer the following benefits for the athletes who achieve minimal marks.

Addittional Bonus of  $ 200.00 to any successful prize if it establishes the following minimal marks.

We recommend you be ready to run in any weather conditions .

  • Start 20 °C (68 °F)     6:00 a.m.
  • Finish  32 °C (89.6°F)        9.00 a.m.

Additional Information :

  • The 21K and 5K courses are AIMS and IAAF certified
  • The right lane of all roads in the course will be open for runners only and will only be opened to vehicular traffic after the last runner.
  • All runners must obey traffic rules and organizers’ instructions.
  • The Finish line will be closed at 9:00 a.m. Each runner who crosses the Finish Line by this time will receive a finisher’s medal and certificate.
  • The course will be marked by red cones, arrow signs and orange paint marks on the asphalt.
  • Electronical controls checkpoints will be located at the Starting line, 10 k and Finish line.
